I devoured this book! I will be honest in saying that I don’t normally love extended age gap stories, but Fisher and Sophia were everything. If you haven’t read the first 2 stories in the series, I do recommend that you read, as we meet a much younger Sophia and the trauma she went through. Fisher was her head of security, and watched the pain and struggle that she went through to push forward. Fisher is about 16 years older than Sophia—she is about to be 26 and he is 42. He left his post as her bodyguard years before when she went on to pursue a career in the FBI. Sophia is strong, brave, resilient, and light years more mature than her age. She has taken her past trauma and dedicated her life to catching the bad guys. Fisher has since pursued a career in the CIA—and is shocked to learn the new recruit who will be accompanying him in his next mission is Sophia, all grown up. I absolutely adored this couple. Yes, there is a wider age gap, but what truly worked for them was their shared history. Fisher understood her, and she already trusted him with her personal demons. Yes, Fisher tries fighting the attraction while they are undercover as a married couple, but he is blown away by the brilliance of Sophia. He truly is in awe of her and falls hard and fast. Sophia’s past crippled her ability to be intimate. It was a battle she thought she’d never win, but with Fisher, she felt alive and seen. She WANTED to be with him, she FELT it. She didn’t need to talk herself into it because it was so natural and real. There was so much love, so much swoon, and excellent spice. Bravo!
